Pros

Simple drag and drop project components (including brainstorming mind maps) that allow the user to implement known tasks and durations which can be used across multiple projects saving valuable time. 2-Plan desktop allows for both Top–Down and Bottom-Up approaches to project planning with a feature that allows the project manager to perform “what if” scenarios. Allows the project manager to perform Role-based planning for sub/contractors instead of assigning specific workers. |

Cons
|
The only negative I have seen for this tool is the additional cost of plug-ins. The charges are very minimal though. |
|
Conclusion
|
If you are looking for one of those tools that is truly “team oriented” and takes advantage of both the Agile and standard project management philosophies, this is it. Better yet, the basic version of the tool is simple and free and still allows for multiple projects. |

I have downloaded this several months ago and upgraded it a couple of times already. For a free software, I was not expecting much. I thought I can only use a limited set of features if I didn't buy its plug-ins for sale. I thought I can only use it for a limited time or a certain number of uses like what most free project management software do.
I've saved a lot of time for my project plans just with its template-making capability. Its resource management approach is simple and covers human resources, project expense items, and project equipment or materials. It has a lot of useful features that other project management software have. However, it has also cut down on the features that I've never used as a project manager.
I look forward to a hosted service of its counter-part web collaboration tool for my teams. |

If you've used MS Project or Primavera, you'll have to adjust with the different approach of this software and with some of its controls. However, once you get used to these, you're up and running in a few days. |

For a free software, I don't mind shelling out a few bucks for the more advanced plug-ins. As a bonus, you can even use the for-sale plug-ins way past the 30-day free trial period for the time being, I think.
Maybe the developer will plug this after a certain period. The extended free trial periods for the for-sale plug-ins could be a promotional tool of their marketing department.
With or without these plug-ins, 2-plan Desktop runs perfectly to address my needs. You can use it perpetually without shelling out a buck, if you want to scrimp on the plug-ins. |
