Description
Cando is a real-time client/server project management application for planning projects and entire programs. The main benefits are the real-time architecture and the intelligent capacity management ("Watermodel"). The modeling interface can be zoomed in and out, so you can create larger plans. A traditional work breakdown structure is not needed. Work packages are added directly to the modeling interface. A sidebar includes all other functions that can be performed on elements of the plan. A set of reports can be developed by exporting data to Microsoft Excel.

Review Criterias

Pros - All project data are stored in real time and available through the PPM process.
- Fuzzy calculation of employee utilization using the "Waterfall Model"
- Skills management and role scheduling
- Data export into MS Excel
Cons - Portfolio management is cumbersome.
- The user environment is unusual and requires a dedicated orientation.
- Export to Ms Excel is the only path to controlling and reporting.
Conclusion Cando has obvious strengths in real-time data and enterprise resource management. For companies needing help in these areas, Cando is a real alternative. Software support for planning larger projects is adequate, but better planning tools are available. Portfolio management is not integrated in Cando, and is possible only through the MS Excel Export feature. This also applies to project controlling and reporting. The novel user interface requires a rethinking, and depends much on personal taste.
