ProjectCompanion
Project management tool to manage the complete project process from planning to execution, workflow, time and expense reporting, invoicing and business control reports. Also suitable for Agile Software Development. Very interesting tool for development and consultants

Pros

You have the option to install it on your own server or get access to SaaS version. For the kind of functions it offers, it is really priced attractively and is great value for money. A free version is available too and you also have a web-based demo available without the need for registration. Workflow management, assigning to-dos as actions to team members, graphical representations at the right places, trend analysis, sales support are some other good features. It also integrates invoicing, budgeting, profit/sales reporting features. You can even break tasks into actionable workflow cases for assigning to team members and easy tracking. Supports a combination of fixed fee and hourly fee in projects. Facilitates agile development too. |

Cons

Lacks on collaboration features. The user interface too could have been better organized. It is not vey intuitive. Some other advanced features (e.g. interfaces for integration with other applications) are missing too. |

Conclusion
|
Projectcompanion offers some good stuff at great prices but at the same time it could confuse you because it doesn't have some other features that are almost essential and much expected from all web-based project management software e.g. they you have done better with including collaboration features and Web 2.0. The option of going for SaaS or own server installation is good but integration interfaces seem lacking. So, if you are already using some PPM software or want Web 2.0 for sure, you might find it difficult to move to ProjectCompanion. But, overall it is a decent piece of PPM software. |
