Pros

Import / export from and to MS project, drag & drop feature for tasks, role-based access, in-built issue management system, easy document collaboration (drag and drop documents from file system to projectplace and share the document link with others), in-built version control, and elaborate user documentation / help system. Workflow support means you can gather comments from users and keep it all in one place. For forums, a plug-in is available. |

Cons
Resource leveling and capacity planning features are missing. GUI isn’t very intuitive and you would need some training. Dashboard is not very informative, and the available standard reports cannot be customized. Limited collaboration functions …no wiki, chats or whiteboards |
Conclusion
Projectplace is an online project management software with limited functionality. No resource levelling, capacity planning and customization features available. Document collaboration, in-built version control, issue management and help system are great but it can’t really beat MS project and there are much better online project management software available. So, if you are looking for very basic stuff, you could still go for projectplace. The three available editions are Planner edition, Team edition and Enterprise edition. Portfolio management, resource distribution across projects and other such multi-project features are available only in Enterprise edition |

Pros
- Good functionality for management of tasks and issues
- Separate „Planner Edition“simplifies timely task planning
- Features for team collaboration (documents, online meetings) |
Cons
- No Wiki-integration
- Little tracking functionality
- Not suitable for large projects |
Conclusion
Projectplace easy to operate. For smaller projects or service issues, it provides good support in the areas of tasks and issues. The usefulness of the tool is limited; in none of the areas is the tool truly convincing. It is neither a sophisticated planning tool nor a portfolio and resource management tool, yet it is really helpful in the area enterprise collaboration and community. Therefore, carefully consider how the tool will be employed. |
