TargetProcess is an Agile project management software that integrates the testing process with the project planning and tracking process. You can either get it as package (price is $249 per user) and install it on your own server or you can go for a hosted solution ($25 per user per month). TargetProcess allows you to customize your development process and workflows, plan iterations and releases, manage scope overrun and create role-based permissions. You can assign tasks and track them through the Task board. Resource allocation and utilization management functions are present. Time tracking functionality is available and you can get weekly time sheets. Tagging and searching is possible too. Various tools can be integrated with TargetProcess e.g., Subversion, visual source safe, JIRA, NUnit. Test planning and test case management features are also available. Collaboration functionalities are available in the form of e-mail notifications, file sharing, and commenting. A customer help desk portal helps keep a tab on customers’ needs and problems. With TargetProcess, various reports can be accessed through a dashboard, for example, progress reports, iteration reports, and quality reports. It also provides issue and defect management facility.

| Pros | Very customizable and full of features – you can customize workflows, use drag-drop features for release planning, create & plan test cases, and integrate all kinds of tools & IDEs (e.g. VSS, Subversion, JIRA, NUnit and more). And you can easily create stories and bugs straight from emails. Moreover, TargetProcess supports XP /Scrum/ Lean and more |

| Conclusion | TargetProcess offers great flexibility to development teams. In that sense, it is ‘One size fits all’ and you can almost be sure that it will meet the needs of your agile project. However, it lacks on user experience and is a bit pricey. So, if you are on small budget and need just the basic functions on your Agile project management software, you might look for other options. But if you are really looking for project management software that you can use over a long period of time and for multiple projects, this customizable piece is what you need. |
